About Sayche

Food has always been significant; particularly as a way of preserving culture and tradition. From an early age, Bev hovered over her parents in the kitchen, observing their preparation of European culinary delights. Always willing to pick up a wooden spoon or chopping knife, Bev was at the ready to partake.

Working as a full time mum

In the 1980’s Bev worked full time and studied Business Administration. Available time was usually spent in the kitchen preparing meals, and baking (her “hobby”) in the 1990’s. Onwards from 2000, Bev was crazy busy! Working, being a single mother, juggling twins to their after-school activities, and devoting much needed time to ageing parents who required assistance. Once her mother was admitted to a nursing home and her father moved in with her, baking was an outlet … a delectable, scrumptious part of her daily routine.

Melting hearts

Cooking for pleasure also became a personal challenge. Trying various recipes and food combinations were always fun; for instance, churning out muffins both savoury and sweet. But there was no better way to melt a heart than through her cheese cake. Always a favourite amongst friends and colleagues, she has been making this treat for almost 25 years. When invited out to someone’s home, the request is always the same “Can you make one of ‘your’ cheese cakes PLEASE?” “Sure!” and so it begins …
